This week is Give Miami Day, an opportunity to pour into organizations that speak to our values as people who care about justice and dignity for all. For 24 years, MWC has been fighting against corporate greed and for community power – and we need your support.
This year’s regressive, anti-worker, and anti-immigrant Florida Legislative Session showed us that when we make historic wins, we can expect extreme pushback from a powerful and wealthy opposition. Despite the rollback of our Miami Tenant Bill of Rights, and despite threats of state pre-emption, Miami Workers Center remains committed to organizing, developing grassroots leadership, and running transformative campaigns to shift consciousness and improve the living and working conditions of working-class Black and immigrant communities in Miami-Dade County.
The rich and powerful are mobilizing all their resources against the will of the people. From rent control, to union-busting, to stripping rights away from families and immigrants, mega corporations and their lobbyists are spending millions to stop our movement for economic and social justice.
Your donation of $25 to the Miami Workers Center on Give Miami Day will go towards advancing our campaigns and programs, including:
- Leadership development programs for members, workers, and tenants to learn core organizing skills
- Our campaign for a Miami Tenants’ Right to Counsel: guaranteed legal representation for tenants facing eviction
- Building power and unity among tenants who are on Section 8 through advocacy and tenant organizing
- Our campaign for a Domestic Worker Bill of Rights, alongside our sister organization WeCount!
- Know Your Rights trainings for tenants and immigrant workers
- Supporting workers in reclaiming their stolen wages
We are counting on your support! Make your donation between Monday, November 13th through Thursday, November 16th. Every cent supports the critical on the ground work we do, deep in the community to build power and fight injustice and inequity.
